Beverly Allen

Beverly “Fuzzy” Bivens was born on October 12, 1972, in Milwaukee, WI. Though she was the only child born to Patti Reed, Beverly gained a multitude of brothers and sisters in her lifetime. Her influence was immense; her laughter could brighten even the gloomiest room. Everywhere she went, people had stories to share about her warmth and kindness.

Growing up surrounded by educators, Beverly developed a deep appreciation for learning and the arts. At Milwaukee High School of the Arts, she immersed herself in acting, singing, and dancing, cultivating a passion that would stay with her throughout her life. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to earn a B.A. in Journalism from UW Milwaukee, and while working full-time at Cardinal Stritch University, she embarked on the journey of obtaining an M.B.A.

Beverly was the embodiment of the phrase ‘lifetime learner’. She embraced various hobbies and activities. One hobby in particular was sewing. In 2020, you could find her sewing masks and bonnets. She also owned a wedding planning business with her mother and briefly endeavored in starting her own business in children’s entertainment.

Later in life, Beverly relocated to Katy, Texas, where she found freedom in discovering new opportunities and rediscovering herself. She believed God led her to Texas for a reason. From her role at TUTS Theater in Downtown Houston, to her dedicated work in the non-profit sector with organizations like Christ Clinic and The Source Houston, Beverly approached each endeavor with unwavering dedication and skill.

Before her passing, she embarked on new ventures. She created a brand by the name of ChemoLegs after being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. ChemoLegs was meant to be a guide for women recently diagnosed with cancer. She wanted women to know that there is still life even after the diagnosis. She’d begun working on a book as well as a podcast and YouTube channel. She began every video with her famous phrase, “Hey family! How ya mama and nem?”

Beverly leaves behind five daughters: Alexandria, Arianna, Alyssa, Amari, and Asia. Each of whom will forever cherish her memory and the lessons she imparted. She shared with them her love for the arts, the importance of seizing every opportunity, and most importantly: to laugh.

Though she may be gone, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
