James Bowie

James Bowie, 73 , passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024, surrounded by his family in Sugar Land, Texas. Born on June 4th, 1950, in Thibodaux, Louisiana. He was the son of Leo and Betty Bowie, brother to Jean Durocher and John Bowie.

James attended Thibodaux high school. He spent his college years at Texas A&M University. James later moved to Houston, Texas where he pursued a successful career in sales leadership. His professionalism and empathy endeared him to colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his professional pursuits, Jim’s greatest joy came from creating cherished memories with his beloved family and friends. In 1971 James married Mona Kraemer Bowie and together they raised 3 children: Ashley, Alicia, and Brandon.

James was not only a devoted husband and father but also a loving grandfather to: Shelby, Caroline, Evelyn, James, Joseph, Nicholas and Ainsley. His kindness, wisdom and infectious sense of humor left a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service to honor Jim’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, April 5th at Sugarland Mortuary, 1818 Eldridge Rd, Sugar Land, TX 77478. Viewing begins at 5pm, funeral at 6pm with a reception to follow. We extend our heartfelt invitation to all who wish to join us in bidding farewell to a truly remarkable soul.

James will be dearly missed for his warm smile, boundless love, and the invaluable lessons he imparted. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who preceded him.

    I just saw this and want you to know that my prayers are with you. I join you in mourning his passing. I work with Jim for several years, way back. I kept in touch with him occasionally in those subsequent years as he was a salesman I looked up to, admired, and appreciated. He was my best mentor.
